Our private camp-in at the Museum of Science and Industry (MOSI) in Tampa includes overnight access to the indoor facility with several hours to explore the hands-on exhibits and experiments before we roll out our sleeping bags for a night at the museum. Sunday morning, stick around after the museum opens to the public at 10 a.m. and take on the challenge of the Sky Trail ropes course – plus enjoy MOSI for the rest of the day.
The cost of $55 per person includes exclusive access to MOSI exhibits between 7 p.m. and 9 a.m., an evening snack, STEAM-focused evening activities led by MOSI Camp-In Instructors, light breakfast (with coffee for grown-ups), one ticket to the Sky Trail ropes course (must be at least 42″ tall and wearing closed-toe shoes – read the waiver), Sunday admission to MOSI (10 a.m. to 5 p.m.), and an exclusive MOSI Camp-In patch.
Plan to arrive at MOSI between 6:30-6:45 p.m. The parking lot is behind the building on the right-hand side of the driveway. Our group will be admitted to the facility by 7 p.m., and there is limited opportunity for latecomers to enter the building after this time.
Eat dinner before you arrive! The program includes a light evening snack and breakfast; outside meals may not be brought in, and the shop/snack bar will not be open outside of regular operating hours. You may bring snacks & soft drinks.
Pack lightly – you will have to carry everything to and from the parking lot and through the museum building to your chosen sleeping spot. Sleeping bags and/or warm blankets and a pad/air mattress (and air pump) are must-haves! We also recommend bringing a pillow, essential toiletries, and a flashlight (we recommend each cub scout bring their six essentials). Do not bring pets. Please do not bring tablets or game consoles (or big screen TVs).
Wear layers – portions of the program may be outdoors and Tampa can get cold in January. A change of clothes is optional (we won’t judge) and closed-toe shoes are highly recommended – and required to participate in the Sky Trail ropes course. Please have your cub scout wear their pack t-shirt if they have one.
If you need a constant electrical supply overnight for medical equipment, you must bring your own extension cords. Adults are responsible for safely and securely carrying any necessary medications for themselves or their campers.
Please note there are no showers at MOSI. The bathrooms are typical for a public building with several stalls and sinks.
More detailed information about MOSI Camp-In rules and expectations can be found in the MOSI Guide to All-Night Camp-Ins. Please make sure you read this document before arrival at MOSI; there is a lot of really helpful information in there.

The registration deadline for our MOSI Camp-In was Dec. 22, 2023. Registration is not complete until your payment is received by Pack 23. If you need to change your registration, contact your den leader or leaders@pack23tallahassee.com as soon as possible. Refunds may be granted if we are able to fill your spot.
Please note: All Pack 23 Cub Scouts, their siblings, and parents/legal guardians are welcome on our high adventure. Additional adult family members, such as grandparents, may attend only if they are registered as an adult leader with the pack before attending an overnight activity. This requires a completed and approved adult volunteer application, including background check, per the BSA Guide to Safe Scouting.
